Fun Valentine's Day Ideas for Kids

People like to think that Valentine's Day is only for couples, but kids can get in on the fun as well. Valentine's Day is all about love, and who loves you more than your kids? You can explain Valentine's Day to your kids so they can understand what the day is all about. It's about showing love to everyone.

When I was much younger, my mom would get a card for me, and she would add a lollipop to it. Now I get a card but no lollipop. We would also celebrate the day with handmade cards as well as doing a craft together. This popsicle stick heart butterfly craft or even this Valentine's Day Candy Shadow Box are just a few of my favorites.

Valentine's Day is a great opportunity to make memories with the kids! I was included in the day before my parents went out for their grown-up Valentine's Day dinner. Here are some fun Valentine’s Day ideas that are perfect for children of all ages:

Bake Valentines Day Treats

Valentine's Day is a great time to bake some Valentine-themed treats together, such as cupcakes, cookies, and brownies. Kids can have fun decorating them with Valentine’s Day sprinkles and sweet messages for family members.

Make Valentines Day Cards Together

Making Valentine's Day cards is a great way to express love and gratitude. Let your kids tell their friends, family members, or classmates how much they care with homemade Valentine’s Day cards decorated with Valentine’s Day stickers and drawings.

Treat Them to A Store Trip

If you're looking for a Valentine's Day surprise, take your kids to the store and let them pick out something special. Whether it’s a toy, Valentine's Day chocolate, or a Valentine’s Day card, they will love the feeling of having something new and exciting.

Create a Fun “I Love You” Note Jar

Let your kids create Valentine's Day cards for the entire family. Have them write "I love you" notes on pieces of paper and put them in a jar. Every day, have someone pull out one note to see who gets the Valentine’s Day surprise! Or you can fill the jar yourself with uplifting messages for your children—they can take one out every day!

Go on a Valentine's Scavenger Hunt

Hide small Valentine-themed items around the house, such as heart-shaped erasers, candy hearts, and stuffed animals. Give your kids a Valentine’s Day-themed list of items to find and let them have fun discovering the special Valentine's treats!

Have Valentine's Day Movie Night

Gather up some popcorn, candy, blankets, and pillows and settle in for a cozy Valentine’s Day movie night. Choose one of your children's favorite Valentine's Day movies, such as Beauty and the Beast or The Princess Bride.

Play Valentine’s Games

There are plenty of fun Valentine's Day games that you can play with your kids. Try a Valentine's Day bingo game, make Valentine's Day charades, or even play Valentine’s Day Pictionary.

Have a Valentine's Party

Gather all your kids' friends for a Valentine's theme party! Have everyone bring homemade Valentine's cards and decorate the room with red and pink balloons, streamers, and heart cutouts. Serve snacks such as candy, Valentine's cupcakes, and punch in festive colors. Make sure to end the night off with a special treat like an ice cream sundae bar.

No matter what Valentine's Day activities you choose to do, make sure it's something special that will create lasting memories with your children. Valentine's Day is all about love, so don't forget to tell your kids how much you love them! Enjoy the day!
